Imad Elias

Imad is the founder of Elias Marine Consultants Ltd, I Elias & Co LLC and Elias Law Limited.

After gaining his Masters in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton, Imad started his career at Ince & Co in London and qualified as a Solicitor of England & Wales in 1991 and as a Cypriot advocate in 2017. He has over 30 years of experience in shipping, commercial, insurance and reinsurance disputes. Imad is predominantly engaged in arbitrations and dispute management on behalf of shipowners and their P&I and H&M underwriters. He is extensively involved in advising insurers on coverage issues, ship casualties and in handling large property insurance and reinsurance claims in the Middle East (both marine and non-marine including political violence and business interruption). Imad is also involved in drafting, advising and negotiating contracts and tenders in the offshore oil and gas sector. Imad acts as a part-time arbitrator and is an LMAA supporting member. He is presently the Managing Director of Elias Law Limited and I. Elias & Co LLC.

Koula Louca

Mrs Koula Louca – Divisional Manager & Legal Consultant Koula joined Elias & Co in 2014 and has over 19 years experience in the marine consulting sector. Koula graduated from the University of Leicester, where she obtained an LL.B (honours) degree in Law and holds an LLM in International Maritime Law from the World Maritime University. In her role as Divisional Manager, Koula handles a diverse range of cases ranging from ship arrests, debt recovery and arbitrations. She also handles a variety of transactional cases relating to ships and yachts such as sale and purchase, finance and leasing. Koula also has experience in aircraft finance and leasing transactions.
She is involved in drafting and negotiating contracts and tenders in the offshore oil and gas sector and has extensive experience in corporate matters including corporate restructures. Koula is fluent in both English and Greek.

Christos Kastanias

Christos is a Senior Associate who joined our firm in 2024.

Christos holds an LLB from Manchester Metropolitan University and where he further studied for the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) at the same University. Having been Admitted to the Cyprus Bar Association in 2014, Christos specializes in civil, commercial, and financial disputes. His extensive practice encompasses various legal areas, including financial regulatory litigation, debt recovery, contractual disputes, personal injury, family law, medical negligence, intellectual property, and criminal law.

Christos is fluent in English and Greek.

Chrystalla Dichorou

Chrystalla is Litigator and Legal Advisor who joined Elias & Co in 2024.

Chrystalla holds an LLB from Democritus University of Thrace (D.U.Th.) in Greece.

Chrystalla has been a member of the Cyprus Bar Association since 2017 and has been working in litigation since qualifying.

Her expertise spans various areas of law and she is fluent in Greek and English.

Daniela Elias

Daniela is a solicitor of England & Wales who joined Elias & Co in 2016. She passed her LPC with Merit in 2015 having finished her LLB at the University of Buckingham. Prior to joining Elias & Co, Daniela completed a Masters in Maritime Law at the University of Southampton where she wrote her dissertation on Fraudulent Claims in Insurance Law. Daniela deals with insurance and reinsurance cases in addition to maritime and non-maritime legal matters. Daniela was admitted to the Cyprus Bar Association in 2024.

Daniela speaks English, Arabic, French and Spanish.

Elena Savvidou

Elena holds an LLB from the University of Kent and has since completed the LPC MSc Law Business and Management at the University of Law passing with distinction. Elena joined Elias & Co in 2017 as a trainee solicitor and qualified as a solicitor of England & Wales in 2019. Then she went on to undertake the Cyprus Bar examinations and qualified as a Cyprus Advocate in 2021.

Elena is fluent in English and Greek.

Anthony Elias

Anthony is a solicitor of England & Wales at Elias & Co who works in the insurance law team and the shipping sector.

Anthony graduated with First Class Honours in his LLB from the University of Buckingham and thereafter continued his studies at the University of Southampton for a Masters in Maritime Law. At the University of Southampton, Anthony undertook modules in both marine and non-marine insurance law, as well as Admiralty Law and Carriage of Goods by Sea. Anthony chose to carry out his dissertation on “The Doctrine of Insurable Interest: Is the Current Law Satisfactory for Today’s Marine Insurance?” which focuses on the difficulties and practicalities in applying the antiquated Marine Insurance Act 1906 in the modern marine insurance market.

Anthony now assists in advising clients for a range of disputes that arise under charterparties, bills of lading and marine policies, with experience in arbitration and High Court proceedings.

Anthony speaks English with fluent proficiency, and Arabic, French and Spanish with intermediate proficiency.

Drosoula Evangelou

Drosoula is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association who joined Elias & Co in 2023. She received an LLM with Merit in International Commercial Law from the University of Leicester having finished her LLB at the University of Essex.

Drosoula deals predominantly with corporate and compliance matters, including the incorporation and maintenance of companies in Cyprus and in various foreign jurisdictions.

Drosoula is fluent in Greek and English.

Moustafa Fkhir

Moustafa is a Solicitor of England & Wales and holds a law degree from Southampton Solent University and Masters in Maritime Law and PhD Award from the University of Southampton. As a consultant of Elias & Co, Moustafa assists clients of the firm on both dry and wet shipping disputes. Moustafa comes from a shipping family and he has experienced the shipping industry from different angles, such as: serving as a cadet onboard commercial vessels, attending at shipyards and spending some time at a shipbroking agency.
